Stunning Antique English Burl Walnut and Brass Mounted Stationery / Writing Box

Description

A highly sought-after dome-topped Victorian writing box in wonderful rich cognac coloured burl Walnut.

The box is adorned with highly decorative brass mounts including the back, all engraved for exquisite detailing, there is a delightful swing handle to the top.

The interior is most unusual a it incorporates a removable pen tray with storage below and the original cut crystal inkwell with a cork stopper.

The interior is fitted with various wooden dividers and the interior of the dome, lined with the original silk lining.

An exquisite example dating to around 1850 in excellent condition (two tiny brass leaves with a fracture; insignificant but mentioned fro accuracy) alas, no key..

Measures 9 1/2" x 4 3/4" x 6" tall excluding handle.
