Fabulous Large English Victorian Domed Burl Walnut & Brass Mounted Glove or Jewelry Box

Description

A superb example dating to around 1850, mid Victorian in era made from stunning burr Walnut with top quality brass mounts affixed with tiny brass screws rather than the usual pins.

The top has an integral brass carry handle which lays flat. The interior reveals the original pale blue silk taffeta, still in outstanding condition for it's age; the lid have stitched-in sections for implements such as glove stretchers, button hooks and similar necessary implements required over 150 years ago.

In exceptional condition with a minor grain age hairline to top, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy. Measures 11" x 5" x 5" tall.
