Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

The border around the edge of both the lid and the base are crimped - enhancing the lovely aesthetics of this item. When opened the interior is a lovely golden gilt.
Clear hallmarks are visible on both the inside of the lip and the lid (see images) for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1901 along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker's marks for Goldsmiths & Silversmiths. The base of the box is also stamped 'Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, 12 Regent Street W'.
