Technical Description

A set of three 19th century Japanese cloisonne boxes. The boxes are in graduating size and fit comfortably within each other. The boxes are decorated with green enamel and copper mica decoration, the rims and bases are copper.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time Japan began using the Gregorian calendar on the first of January 1873.
