Description

A well proportioned quarter striking mantel clock in mahogany with a full brass and silvered dial showing rise and fall regulation to the arch, a Roman numeral chapter ring and a soft gong strike on the hours and quarters, with a simple 'ting~tang' for the first quarter. 2 'ting~tangs' for the second quarter or 'half past' and three 'ting~tangs' at quarter too. then it strikes the hour on one gong. Very pleasant indeed! Please click through to see the more detailed pictures. Made in German 'Black Forest' circa 1890. Sold with a full 12 month R.T.B. guarantee.

An antique quarter striking mantel clock in warm brown mahogany, created in the German Black Forest around 1890 in a Georgian Revival style. The architectural wooden case has a stepped caddy top crowned with a central brass finial, flanked by smaller urn finials at the upper corners, alongside elaborate gilt brass caryatid corner mounts and decorative scrollwork above the glazed arched door. The full brass and silvered dial features a Roman numeral chapter ring and a subsidiary rise and fall regulation dial to the arch. The clock measures 41 cm high, 24 cm wide, and 17 cm deep.
