Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The case is nicely polished with rosewood, walnut and ebony veneers. There are inlays to the top and front.

The tunes are played via a brass cylinder but additinally this is accompanied by a set of drums and 3 bells. This is not a common feature of the vast majority of music boxes and elevates it to a different level. The drums can be switched off independently if required.

Condition is all important when buying a music box as even small faults can be extremely expensive to repair. This one, having just been totally overhauled, should give years of beautiful service to it's new owner.
