Oak Brass-bound Domestic Post & Telegram Box

Description

An unusual mid/late 19th century brass-mounted oak domestic POST BOX in good original condition.

The sloping top has an engraved brass aperture for posting letters and a brass frame to hold printed details of collections times etc. This lid opens to reveal the interior to hold the letters, cards etc., with a bevelled glass panel to the front. To either side are compartments to take incoming mail, whilst within the base is a shallow drawer, with a pen section, for writing telegrams. 15.5ins (40cms) wide.
