A fine and very unusual Regency period card or games box in rosewood with superb brass inlay. The box stands on turned bun feet and is of a squat sarcophagus shape with gadroon turned edges. The brass inlay is lovely particularly the inlaid cards to the top. The interior is lined with blue paper which I do feel is original, the cards currently inside are later additions. The box is in excellent condition and even retains the original working key and lock. The whole has a lovely untouched colour and patina and is a rare type of antique box.
