William Parkins and Henry Jenkin Gotto established Parkins & Gotto at ?2, Hanway Street, Oxford Street?, London in the 1840s. In the 1850s the company moved to 23 & ?25, Oxford Street? and were noted for carrying a huge variety of high quality stock. C1870-80

The box is brass bound and has a brass escutcheon and nameplate and retains its original fittings including the tooled leather insert and the gilt brass lidded inkwell, marked parkins & Gotto

Condition

Original, a very slight expansion crack in the veneer on the top about 3 inches long.
