A fine and original Georgian period Knife box. The box is a particularly good example of it''s type with all flame mahogany veneers, a lovely serpentine front and lovely inlays in various woods including kingwood. The box retains the original silver plated escutcheon and handle. The interior is all original with good starburst inlay on the inside of the lid. The box retains some amazing early cutlery with stained bone handles, whether original or not it is difficult to say but a wonderful rare addition whatever. The whole is in excellent condition with working key and a great country house antique. C.1790.
