Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Estate cabinets from the Victorian era were robust storage units crafted for country houses and offices to hold estate records, maps, or private collections. They typically feature secure twin doors, internal drawers or shelving, and fine decorative timber veneers like pollard or burr oak.

These cabinets feature a solid timber frame faced with pollard oak veneers, known for rich swirl figures and natural wood burrs. Secondary timber such as pine or mahogany is often used for drawer linings, complemented by cast brass handles and steel lock mechanisms.

Authentic pieces exhibit distinctive, irregular swirling grain patterns created by pollarding techniques, alongside hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers and original brass keyhole escutcheons. Internal timber surfaces typically show natural aging and oxidation consistent with 19th-century craftsmanship.

An antique cabinet serves as a striking focal point in a contemporary study, hallway, or living space. Pairing warm timber textures against modern matte paint finishes creates a sophisticated, layered interior scheme.

Apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly along the grain once or twice a year to nourish the wood and maintain its luster. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage or veneer lifting.
