Superb Tiny Regency Rosewood Sewing Box

A tiny and quite exquisite quality Regency period sewing box. The box may be quite plain but every inch of it has been made to the highested standard. The rosewood veneers are of the finest figuring and matched on each side. The lid and base are defined by thin slips of boxwood and the chamfered top is inlaid in a tiny chequerboard inlay. The pin cushion top is covered in if not the original certainly very old fabric with tiny flowers. The interior is lined with the most beautiful original pink paper with gilt stars. The whole is just perfect from top to bottom with a wonderful patina and colour, and even includes the key. It is also weighted with lead and weighs a lot, this was to make sure it didn’t slip around when in use.
