Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The tea caddy has a silver drop handle and ivory escutcheon with key and working lock. The lid, with original hinges, lifts to reveal two removable tortoiseshell lidded canisters. There has been some early restoration to the caddy, this has been very well done and is not easily visible. We have shown this in the photographs. The quality of this tea caddy is outstanding and it was obviously the property of a very discerning person. A very special piece to stand alone as a decorative item or add to a collection.
