Neat Oak and Brass Victorian Letter Box

19th century
Description

Circa 1880, neat oak and brass Victorian country house or hotel letter box. With a solid top and ogee moulded fore-edge, there is a brass plaque stating ‘letters’, and beneath is large oak door with classic brass strap hinges with Gothic tracing. There is a small clasp for locking, and simple brass escutcheon. The sides are polished and there is a simple ogee moulding with rounded front to the base.
