Pristine Large Antique Mauchline Fernware Spool / Thread Box

Description

An absolutely stunning piece of highly collectible fernware in the form of a large spool box.

Originating from the town of Mauchline in Scotland, these fern decorated wooden items became most popular in the Victorian era, purchased as souvenirs on their Scottish visits, made so popular by Queen Victoria's visits.

All of the little bone or ivory eyelets are intact and the condition of the box just superb with a glossy patina in undamaged condition. I have placed some modern spools in purely just to show the box's use, it would be nice to replace with some older wooden ones.

Excellent condition, measuring 4 1/4" across the lid and standing 2 1/2" tall.
