Antique English Brass Bound Campaign / Military Style Tea Caddy

Description

An unusual English tea caddy dating to around 1840 made from wonderful rich red Mahogany and bound with two brass straps from back to front, quality fitted with brass screws.

There is a bras escutcheon to the front (and yes, complete with working taselled key) and a brass plaque to the top of the lid, perfect for engraving if desired.

The interior reveals a dual compartment caddy, the two lids in glossy flamed mahogany with the most spectacular large turned ivory knobs. The central divider has been replaced, insignificant but mentioned purely for accuracy.

Excellent condition measuring 9" x 4 1/2" deep x 4 3/4" tall.
