A very fine and large 19th century Swiss MUSIC BOX in wonderful condition.

The case is of well-veneered 'book-matched' figured walnut with ornate brass carrying handles to either side. It opens to reveal the superb movement which plays eight tunes in a delightful "Mandoline Expressif" style, on its fine one-piece comb with some 96 teeth.

Other features include the double-barrel crank-winding motor, which allows it to play for about 25 minutes between windings. Complete with the original hand-written tune sheet. A glorious musical box! 26.5ins wide; 11ins deep; 7.5ins high. (67.5 x 28 x 19cms)
