Rare Quality Antique Bezique / Playing Card Box - Registered 1887

Description

An absolutely stunning and very rare cast solid brass Bezique Set or Playing Card Box ..... look closely to see the figural panels on three sides with the heart motif and the four suit motifs on the top of the lid.

The underside is signed by the maker L B which I have tried to look up but unfortunately couldn't find out the makers name. There is also the highly desirable English registered number on the underside which dates the box to 1887, a true quality Victorian example.

The interior has the complete Bezique set intact with two Bezique markers, two period Bezique packs of cards and the original instructions / rules book.

The box is solid and amazingly weighs a hefty two and half pounds.

Beautiful condition and measuring 4 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 3 1/4" high.
