A fine Georgian period bur yew tea caddy. The caddy is veneered in bur yew all the way around it is also inlaid with ropetwist line inlay in box and ebony and crossbanded in another wood possible walnut or kingwood. The top is inlaid with a fine boxwood paterae and has the original brass handle. The interior has two sections and with a caddy of this quality they were probably originally occupied by silver tea canisters now gone. This is a fine and rare caddy, with a superb original patina and colour.
