A particularly fine WRITING BOX by BETJEMANN of London.

Considered to be the 'top-of-the-range' by the renown firm of boxmakers, this superb figured walnut box is profusely embellished with "Gothic" brass mounts with a jasparware plaque to the lid and large cast handles.

It opens to reveal a wonderfully fitted interior with original purple velvet writing surface; pair gilt inkwells; six mother-of-pearl implements including pen; pencil and ruler. Amongst the many other features, it is lined in superb figured satinwood throughout.

A bit over the top perhaps, but wonderful quality! 14ins x 10ins x 7.25 high (35.5 x 25.5 x 18.5cms)
