Fine quality early C19th Regency period rosewood correspondence or letter-box desktop casket.

Smart rosewood casket fitted with original brass lock and steel loop-handle key together with brass hinges , the hinged lid having double slots for correspondence , letters or ballot slips. The lid fitted with a central turned rosewood knob handle and with a carved 'reel' edge surround.

The polished interior with a fitted vertical division.

Of open 'grill' or lattice-work free-standing design and raised upon compressed bun feet . The lower edge also with a carved 'reel' moulding.

In excellent original condition with a rich patina to the well-selected figured rosewood.
