A good quality 19th.century Anglo Indian brass bound camphor wood campaign writing box. As the drawer opens the tambour top rolls back simultaneously to reveal a rising section with various pigeon holes and compartments. The sloping fall opens to a fitted interior with pen tray, lidded and open compartments and a circular straight edge which when removed offers up a small hole which when pressed releases a sprung cover and reveals 2 secret drawers. The fold out hinged writing slope with replaced hand dyed brown leather with gold and blind tooling.
