18th Century Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy

Description

A gorgeous late 18th century tortoiseshell TEA CADDY in fine original condition.

This delightful ten-sided caddy is veneered in finely figured tortoiseshell and edged in ivory, with pretty mother-of-pearl inlay to the lid and front. It is surmounted by a silver bow-shaped handle to the lid and inset with a silver escutcheon and engraved cartouche to the front panel. The interior retains its original lead lining in excellent condition and it is complete with its original (working) key. Lovely caddy! 4ins high; 4.25ins wide; 2.75ins deep.
