Description

This unusual REGENCY LACQUERED TEA CANISTER bears the seal of S. CROXTON CANISTER MAKER of 137 BISHOPSGATE STREET.

It has a lacquered CHINOISERIE SCENE to the front and Chinese symbols to the sides.

It was probably made to hold and display tea.

The lacquer panel on the front of the wooden CANISTER is original and in good condition. There are signs of wear to the lacquer on the top of the lid.
