A Fine Victorian Fitted Jewellery Box

Description

A rather good and totally original Victorian fitted JEWELLERY BOX in particularly good condition.

The box is of well-figured coromandel-wood, embellished with Gothic style brass mounts and straps. The domed lid is centred by a charming porcelain plaque, depicting Cupid complete with bow-and-arrow, and it opens to reveal a well-fitted interior with two removable trays and a further space below. Lovely quality: even the hinges and locks are beautifully engraved and gilded, and it is complete with its working key. 11ins wide; 8.5ins deep; 7ins high. (28 x 21.5 x 18cms)
