Pretty Regency 'Pressed' Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy

Description

A charming and rare early 19th century Regency period tortoiseshell TEA CADDY of small size and in immaculate condition.

The shaped domed lid is set with its silver-plated ball handle and opens to reveal the inner lid (also veneered in tortoiseshell) and remains of the original lead lining. The front panel is of "pressed" tortoiseshell with a 'vacant' central cartouche and plated escutcheon, whilst the whole caddy is raised on original silver plated ball feet. Delightful. 4.5ins wide; 5ins high (overall); 3ins deep. (11.5 x 13 x 7.5cms)
