Parlor Magic Box C.1870

19th century
Description

A very unique parlor magic cabinet.  Made purely for tricky.  It’s made with a mixture of amboyna and kingwood with a mother of pearl inlay.  It combined with four drawers.  The trick involved is to make the playing card disappear as you reopen the draw.  By doing this you place the card inside the draw and then at the back is a catch which you push down.  As you re open the draw the card should be hidden.  A real collector’s item.  Dates back to the Victorian period. French Made.
