Robert Bush Antiques has dated this piece to the Regency era.

The rosewood has a deep glow and the brass shines majestically, and in the centre of the top is a cartouche with the initials CFP.
It stands on 4 turned bun feet which are all original, in fact the box is original in every way with no signs of damage or any restoration work.

We have simply given it a clean, but it really only needed a modest wipe over.
Inside it is lined in yellow silk and there are multiple small compartments, the pair at the front having pretty brass nobs to lift the lids, and it is fitted with an assortment of sewing tools, a pair of scissors and 8 shaped mother of pearl discs that must be something to do with cotton threading.

There are pull-out needle cases and silk covered areas for pins, all in a beautiful yellow.
There is a drop-down section inside the lid to keep your documents in and the tray lifts out to reveal a lined interior.
