Burr Walnut Writing Slope Oxford St London C.1850

Description

A stunning writing slope made from burr walnut. The walnut gives off a lovely swirling attractive grain. It's been inlaid and brass bounded all around the box to add to it's strength and durability. Comes with a brass inlay on the lid and brass escutcheon. The interior comprises of a typical writing slope lay out. It has a makers plaque made from London oxford street made from mother of pearl.

The interior has two secret draws pushed out by a secret lever. Comes with two ink wells made with brass lid with crown tops.

All original and comes with fully functioning lock and key. Dates back to the Victorian period, c.1850.

Burr walnut, glass, brass, mother of pearl and coramandel.
