A good 19th Century Swiss music box retailed by J. H. Ebblewhites Musical Instrument Depot of Aldgate, London. The case having a rosewood lid with boxwood and satinwood stringing and an inlaid centre of a bird sitting on a floral sprig in various stained woods. The inside of the lid with the original but worn label listing the 8 aires and retailers impressed name which is also repeated on the song sheet. The brass barrel is in excellent condition, the pins sharp having had very little use and all the teeth are present on the comb. The stop/play and change/repeat controls are working well and the musical sound is very good. Size - Width 20'' / 51cm. Depth 8.75'' / 22.5cm. Height 5.75'' / 14.5cm.
