This lovely box is of finest figured rosewood, with inset brass cartouche and escutcheon. The lid opens to reveal the fitted interior with 9 silver-topped bottles and jars and a separate tray with original tools including letter opener in Mother-of-Pearl; 2 pairs scissors; scent bottle opener; button hook; silver pencil etc.
Lined throughout in bright red gilt-tooled morocco leather which is in almost mint condition and complete with working key. Hallmarked: London 1841. A superb quality and pleasingly under-stated dressing/jewellery box.
