Burr Walnut Writing Slope C.1870

19th century
Description

A fine example of a Writing slope which is made from an attractive Burr walnut. It's also been cross banded in Burr yew and box wood to add to the decorative look. It has two brass inlays one on the center lid and the other as the escutcheon. The interior is all completely original with a dark blue velvet lining. Comes with a small lifting tray for your pens and writing materials. Comes with a glass ink well. A large attraction of this box is the two secret draws which are revealed when you lift one of the divisions. Comes with fully functioning lock and key. Dates to the Victorian period, c.1870.
