A Good Sewing Box with Superb Original Contents

Description

A superbly fitted and totally original early/mid 19th century SEWING BOX, in remarkable condition.

The box itself is fairly standard; ebonised with ornate Mother-of-Pearl inlay, but the contents are truly wonderful. These include: full set of seven MOP cotton reels; full set of SIX MOP winders; matching set of MOP waxer; needle-cleaner and tape measure; MOP thimble in mint condition; scent bottle with silver top; various tools and silver pencil and so much more.

Additional items include: silver-inlaid MOP aide memoire; exquisite child's sampler and toy scissors, combs etc; some unused skeins of silk thread; pair of child's leather shoes etc. etc. Probably the finest fittings we have seen in an English sewing box.
