Fine Japanese Iron Onlaid Komai Style Box By"ikkou"

Description

As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this magical quality iron mounted hinged box , the main body of the little pill or trinket box is formed from a silvered metal that has been chased to depict a lakeside setting with reeds and lillies and is artist signed to the rear corner .

The box houses an iron lid that has been onlaid in gold and silver to depict the most charming scene ,a gold boat at rest above which flies an egret towards the full moon rising through carved iron clouds,the shimmering water is formed from a build up of thick layers of silver,the central cartouche further banded by random gold onlaid decoration in the Komai manner, delightful !

The condition of the lid is stunning , the silvered box interior is worn and with a couple of dimples to the base, overall a fantastic item not to be missed !
