Fine Tunbridge-ware Writing Slope

Description

A good quality mid-19th century Tunbridge ware WRITING BOX superbly inlaid with a marquetry scene of Hever Castle in Kent.

This is inlaid within a satinwood panel surrounded by rosewood and wide bands of marquetry garlands of flowers and leaves. The lid opens to reveal the original velvet writing surface; ink bottle with Tunbridge-ware lid and a similar lidded section for implements and a pen/pencil tray. Lovely condition.
