Superb Victorian Amboyna and Silver Fitted Case

A wonderful quality Victorian period silver fitted dressing and jewellery case. The box is made of solid amboyna wood of a wonderful original patina, it is line inlaid with brass and has an engraved cartouche. The interior has a fall front of satinwood with two drawers fitted for jewellery and the top is edged in coromandel, and all are original. The top is fitted with the orginal silver topped bottles all fully marked and matching. The marks are for Birmingham 1851, makers Hilliard and Thomason. The interior and indeed the whole box is untouched. There are some defects: a few chips to the bottles, the implements are missing and the mirror is a replacement. This is the finest quality Victorian box for a great house, and has working key. C.1851.
