Fine Burr Walnut Ladys Dressing & Jewellery Case

Description

A fine quality and impressive mid-Victorian figured walnut fitted LADY'S DRESSING & JEWELLERY CASE in superb original condition.

The well-figured burr walnut case is bound in brass with an ornate gilt handle and escutcheon to the front. The lid (with its concealed mirror within) opens to reveal the interior complete with ten bottles and jars, all with hallmarked silver-gilt tops. There is the unusual action that by pulling the handle forward, an inner tray is revealed fully fitted with a total of 15 tools and implements including a silver pencil and original scissors etc.

A stunning fitted dressing and jewellery case, hallmarked for London 1866, and retailed by Howell & James of Regent Street, LONDON.
