This is a fine example of a Stationary desk box. Made from Rosewood and inlaid with Tunbridge ware throughout which is all incomplete immaculate condition with Eridge castle at Tunbridge wells inlaid for the centre piece. The maker being Alfred Talbot. whose business "Talbot's Tunbridge Ware Manufactory", was situated in Chapel Place, Tunbridge Wells, just across the road from The Pantiles, or The Parade as it was then known. It's early Victorian dating to around C.1840. Comes with fully functioning lock and key. The interior comes with various Desk and writing materials which include a pen, stamp and a glass ink well.
