As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this most exquisite Japanese lidded box , the box is formed from a gold lacquer base mounted with silver , the entire box has then been painstakingly covered in hundreds of flowers that have been meticulously hand carved from semi precious hardstones, stained bone/ivory and various sea shells, these type of wares rarely come onto the market, when they do they appear in various levels of quality,in our opinion this particular box is at the top of that league , with the artist cleverly matching the flowers top and bottom on one side so as to highlight which way the lid fits, the underside silver mount is engraved with a London retailers name that reads " A Barrett & Sons 63-64 Picadilly W " the inner lid has a red seal artist signature,an absolute delight.

The condition is lovely with remarkably no losses to the shibayama ,for total accuracy there is a minor underside lacquer scratch and light rippling to the thin silver mounts !!
