An Exquisite Miniature Trunk Or Jewellery Box

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Waterfall Antiques

An absolutely beautiful late Georgian/early Victorian mahogany casket in the form of a miniature storage trunk. This wonderful box – its original use probably for sewing – has a wide variety of possible uses now; as a stationery cabinet or as a jewellery box for instance. It has two lift-out trays, one of which is compartmentalised and the other plain, with both being made of solid English oak. It is of exposed dovetail construction in timbers of the finest quality retaining their original finish with a rich, warm colour and a glowing patination. There is a fully working key to the original lock. This stunning mahogany trinket box is English, c.1820 – c.1840.
