A Superb Early 19th Century Tea Caddy

Description

A particularly impressive and good quality early 19th century TEA CADDY of small size.

What makes the caddy a bit special? Of conventional cube shape, it is veneered to the lid and on all four sides with beautifully figured "flame" mahogany of the finest quality, which has now acquired a rich warm colour and patina. It is cross-banded, again to the lid and all four sides, and has ebony edges and a matching ebony escutcheon.

The original interior with remains of the original lead lining. A charming and delightful tea caddy in excellent condition.
