Antique 8 Day Long Case Clock By Husband Of Hull Circa 1780

This is an 8 day clock striking hours on a bell. The dial is an early example by Wilson with restrained gilded gessowork in the arch and corners.
The case is of oak with mahogany veneers and is typical of a Hull clock. There is a sound fret in the pagoda top. The clock measures 85''(2159)in maximum height.
The attractive dial, elegant case and high quality movement are typical of the output of Thomas Husband who worke from Hull from about 1760 until his death in 1812.
