Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The lid opens to reveal the original crushed velvet lining inside, and two parquetry lidded tea canisters which flank the cut-glass sugar bowl.
It is supported on original compressed bun feet of solid rosewood and it is complete with its delightful matching Tunbridge-ware caddy spoon, in the shape of a saucepan ~ itself very rare.
