Carved Chinese Camphor Wood Box Small Proportions

1900 - 1920
Description

This camphor wood box is profusely carved on all sides including the back. The carved panels are highlighted with black lacquered borders & edges. It stands on squat carved cabriole feet. The lock is made from solid brass. The backplate is intact but the catches are missing. The lock is also there so the catch looks attractive but can't lock. The smell is delightful when the lid is lifted. This would make an ideal lamp table or coffee table
