By the Victorians times more women were starting to travel and their requirements were anything but utilitarian. This Example contains a wide range of decorative silver plated bottles and jars as well as some beautification tools, all designed with pure luxury in mind.
In the rear of the lid is a letter holder and mirror.
The box is made of two main drawers, one especially for Jewellery and the other for letters.
Its secured shut with the original Brahma lock and key in fully functional condition.
Original chase brass handles and hinges.
The exterior of the box is made from a fine Coromandel wood which really gives of a dignified, distinguished grain for a superb look of quality.
Comes with the makers label; R Wather Glasgow for William Reid, with the William Reid family crest which is a hand coming out of a cloud holding a book with the words Pro Virtute.
This Vanity Box is in immaculate condition with very minimal wear, considering its age. As presented in the pictures.
