The interior is designed for the safe transportation of a fine silk hat (or two) but can be used now as a general purpose storage box or as a low table. It retains a most attractive old painted triple stripe – possibly with military connotations – and there are two buckle fasteners and a brass sprung catch. A really impressive example of vintage leatherware with lots of character. English, dating from c.1900.
