A Well Fitted Coromandel Wood Sewing Box

Description

A good quality mid/late 19th century Victorian period fitted sewing box in excellent condition.

The nicely figured exterior, with its inlaid mother-of-pearl and brass escutcheon and matching cartouche to the lid, opens to reveal the well-fitted interior. This includes full set of eight carved mother-of-pearl cotton reels; waxer; two thimbles; a number of tools and implements and the original gilt-tooled lids to the various compartments, whilst there is an attractive framed mirror and 'pouch' (perhaps for patterns?) inside the lid.

Measures 12ins wide and 8.5ins deep (30 x 21.5 cms)
