A fine quality Coromandel and brass inlaid writing slope, with two secret drawers, original inkwell and fine black tooled leather. It has the original working lock and key.
The quality of this piece is quite lovely. Often with coromandel, because the veneer was so expensive, the better veneers were only used on the front and top of the boxes. This one however, has beautiful veneers all around the box, inside, and even on the fronts of the concealed secret drawers.
This exceptional piece would make a superb gift.
