Superb Chinese Cantonese Tortoiseshell Table Snuff Box

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this finely carved Chinese tortoiseshell table snuff box carved in the cantonese region in the late 19th century , this wonderful hinged box is formed from tortoise or turtle shell and then carved in low relief to all sides including a finely carved underside ,the various scenes show pavillions amidst pine trees and artisans at work and at rest ,the lid is very much thicker gauge shell and has been carved in very deep relief depicting a boating scene in the foreground and men on horse back amongst pavillions and pine trees above, this is a wonderful piece of Chinese art from the late 19th century.

The condition is as perfect as you could ever expect .

Depth 3" 7.5 cm

Height 1" 2.5 cm
