A Good Victorian Fitted Sewing Box

19th century
Description

A pretty, tidy and well-equipped Victorian SEWING BOX in excellent original condition.

Veneered throughout in coromandel-wood; inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl and brass to the lid and front and with solid ring handles to the sides, the lid opens to reveal the fitted interior. The contents include various lidded compartments with MOP handles; set of seven Mother-of-pearl cotton reels; matching needle cleaner; tape measure and various tools and implements.

This tray lifts out to reveal a compartment below lined with its original decorative paper and with the original label showing this was made by S. Woolfield of Buchanan Street, Glasgow. 14ins wide; 9.5ins deep. (35 x 24cms)
